[cobirds] Chico Basin Ranch, El Paso/Pueblo Cos. 6/1

As promised, here is a list of things, that Bill Maynard and I saw at Chico Basin Ranch today, that seemed odd for June 1st for this location.

Ducks:
Lesser Scaup, Canvasback (1), and American Wigeon

Other waterbirds:
White-faced Ibis (1)

Shorebirds:
Solitary (1), Spotted, Semipalmated, White-rumped (<20), Stilt (1) Sandpipers, Wilson's Phalarope.

Passerines (of note):
Yellow-billed Cuckoo (1), Broad-tailed Hummingbird (male), Olive-sided, Willow (singing), Cordilleran (singing) Flycatchers, Warbling and Plumbeous (singing) Vireos, Hermit (1) and Swainson's Thrush (200+), Bank and Northern Rough-winged Swallows, Yellow-rumped "Audubon" (a few singing males, as well as females), Wilson's and MacGillivray's Warblers, Yellow-breasted Chat, Lincoln's, White-crowned, Chipping, and Savannah Sparrows, Green-tailed and Spotted Towhees, Western Tanager, Black-headed Grosbeak.  Most of these birds breed only in the mountains (except for the cuckoo and the swallows), and certainly not at Chico Basin Ranch, on the plains.  Migration is still going on for sure.
