[cobirds] Yuma and Phillips

Greetings All

I had a hankering to go east, but not join the hordes, today... so I started at Stalker Lake near Wray, Yuma County
Stalker was exceptionally birdy.
The hottest rarity was an alternate female RUSTY BLACKBIRD feeding along the muddy shoreline under some Russian Olives. Also notable was an early and easterly MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER that sang for a goodly hour, and a female GREATER SCAUP that was tardy. Finally, a DUNLIN rounded out a sweet list of rarities.

Uncommon but expected were Field Sparrow, N Cardinal, RB Woodpecker.

The Wray Fish Hatchery was slow except for rather tardy OREGON JUNCO

Holyoke was hard work. The most noteworthy bird was a male TOWNSEND'S WARBLER. Also festive was a singing HARRIS'S SPARROW. Another RB Woodpecker and a few Field Sparrows were also about.

I saw a fair number of OC Warblers, lotsa and lotsa Yellow-rumped Warblers... but other passerine insectivorous migrants were quite scarce still.

Interestingly, the Western Grebe at the Lions Club Fishing Hole in Holyoke was the first record of that species in Phillips on eBird.

Good Birding
