[cobirds] RMBO Banding Station Report, Chatfield, 5/16/13

Very similar captures and weather to yesterday – cool until about 10 a.m., and there are lots of birds around, but they are high up in the trees, where the leaves and flowers are further along and presumably the food options are better.  Then, it warms up and things quiet down.  Each day we are catching more returns from prior years.  Here’s today’s breakdown;

Mourning Dove                1

Dusky Flycatcher              1

House Wren       2

Yellow Warbler 4 returns (1 banded in 2010, 3 banded last year)

MacGillivray’s Warbler   1

Common Yellowthroat  1

Yellow-breasted Chat    1 new, 1 return (banded 2010)

Song Sparrow    1 return (banded 2010)

Lincoln’s Sparrow             4

Brown-headed Cowbird               2 new, 1 return (banded 2010)

American Goldfinch        1

Open daily, weather permitting, through June 2.  Until this heat breaks, we will continue to close early; I think all nets were closed by 11 a.m. today.
