[cobirds] Longmont Area Today

Greetings All

Golden Ponds is proving very interesting. It seems as if landbirds move through there throughout AM
I had a singing Nashville Warbler (western race but song) and a Black-and-white Warbler but had no Western Tan, Yellow Warbler, or N Waterthrush as David Dowell did.

There was also a Western x Clark's Grebe and 3 lingering Cackling Geese

At Union Res there were about 6000-8000 swallows, mostly Violet-green and Cliff. Also, 2 Whimbrel and a BB Plover.

The Firestone Gravel Pits... RN Grebes gone. The two small ponds (one of which the grebes occupied) are apparently being drained ... and it looks like some new development will come to the area, ruining a birding spot that has produced Tufted Duck, Glossy Ibis, Mexican Duck as well as the 2 RN Grebes just within the last 2 years. Yeah :-(
The shorebirds at these draining ponds were diminished from recent visits and the Glossy Ibis is gone but the Glossy x WF Ibis is still around

Good Birding
