A warm, clear, calm day at Chico Basin Ranch (RMBO Banding Station, El Paso Co, fee), therefore few birds, at what should be the peak of migration. Sigh.
But we did band a new Gray-cheeked Thrush, not as brown-tinged in the tail as the one last week. Also our First-of-Season W Tanagers (2 males), and a FOS Canon Towhee F. It was a three-thrush day with Hermit, Swainson's and the Gray-cheeked, and several sparrows, including a White-throated Sparrow that we banded Saturday.
Hoping for some more moderately messy weather to bring in some birds! Last day this season is scheduled for Saturday 5/18.
Happy Migration,
