[cobirds] Hurricane Hilary rarity potential

Hey all, Hurricane Hilary is supposed to hit southern California on Monday, bringing a tropical storm to southern California and massive rainfall to the southwestern region. First, I want to say I wish the best for the people in the region impacted. It is supposed to significantly impact weather in California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. I am by no means a hurricane, pelagic bird, or weather expert, far from. However, I know hurricanes in the past have brought things like storm-petrels and other pelagics into southern Arizona and New Mexico. Furthermore, tropical storms in California are exceptionally rare, and this storm will go significantly inland in a northeastern direction (possibly pushing birds to Colorado).  I'm going to go on a whim here and suggest that this would possibly bring potential for things like pelagics and southwestern species, possibly state records. Just a thought, next week, particularly Tuesday and Wednesday, might a good time to bird, especially in the southwestern part of the state. People who are more knowledgeable about weather and rarities feel free to elaborate, but I just to put it on people's radar as it hasn't been mentioned yet. Who knows, maybe, just maybe, we'll finally get our long awaited Heermann's Gull, or maybe something even crazier.
