[cobirds] 4th Annual Labor Day Circum-Lake-ation

All,

Once again, I'll be birding around Cherry Creek Reservoir on Labor Day (September 4). I'll start at the Tower Loop at about 6:30am and will work clockwise around the Lake. We have generally finished around 2:00 - 2:30. The entire walk is about 12 miles. As in the past, I hope to have someone meet us at the 12-mile Lot who can ferry folks back to the Tower Loop, should they decide not to do the whole circuit.

There are a couple of challenges this year, as a result of the flooding that affected the park. First, the road that connects the east and west sides of Cherry Creek State Park is still cut, so entry to the park (i.e., to get the Tower Loop) must be from the Parker Road (i.e., east) entrance. Second, we will cross Cherry Creek at the far south end of the park—but that's the point of "no-return", as the east-west cross-park trails are closed between that southern-most bridge and the face of the dam.

The current weather forecast is for high temps in the mid-to-upper 80's . . . a lot cooler than last year!

If you have any questions, let me know!
