[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies - Barr Banding Report 8/29/23

Hot and slow today.

Finally caught our first Pewees......we've been hearing them daily, and normally start catching them right away; none til today, and then we had four.  The other capture of note was a female Chipping Sparrow with a brood patch, still sporting a full rufous crown.  This is the second one we've caught (the other was during our training days before the season started) that might have bred at Barr this summer.

Here's the breakdown of today's 15 new birds for the season:

Western Wood-Pewee 4
Black-capped Chickadee 1 banded 2022
House Wren 1
Yellow Warbler 5
Wilson's Warbler 3
Chipping Sparrow 1

If you would like to visit, we have one-hour slots (up to 15 visitors at a time) from 7:30-8:30 most weekday mornings (Tues-Fri, we are closed on Mon) and 8, 9 , and 10 a.m. one-hour time slots on the weekends.  Click here to make a reservation.
