[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies - Barr Banding Report 8/27/23

Activity continues to be slow, but it seemed to work out about perfectly for the Sunday visitor groups - e.g. a different warbler on each run; folks got great looks and life history on Orange-Crowned, Yellow, Wilson's, then Common Yellowthroat.  Thanks to everyone who visited for making it a fun Sunday morning!  Here's the breakdown of the 17 new birds:

Downy Woodpecker 1
Warbling Vireo 1
Black-capped Chickadee 3
House Wren 2
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Yellow Warbler 3
Common Yellowthroat 1
WIlson's Warbler 3
Common Grackle 2 (There are lots of Grackles hanging around which is unusual.....these are the first we've caught at the banding station since 2015, and only the 5th & 6th in the past 17 years. Big, beautifully iridescent birds in the hand.)

We are closed today, but looking forward to tomorrow - we finally have all the nets up!  There is still space in the 7:30-8:30 visitor slot if you'd like to visit - Click here to make a reservation.

We have one-hour slots (up to 15 visitors at a time) from 7:30-8:30 most weekday mornings (Tues-Fri, we are closed on Mon) and 8, 9 , and 10 a.m. one-hour time slots on the weekends.  Click here to make a reservation.
