Visitors:
Thanks to everyone who helped today, enduring difficult conditions for spotting raptors. Steve, Kathie, Janet, Sammy and Gordon Penley helped locate and identify birds. The trail was busy with bicyclists and hikers.
Weather:
Today was an eye-burner, sunny with zero cloud cover most of the day. A few clouds developed over the ridge and west of us late in the day, which helped us locate a few birds. Temperatures were very warm, and we had a moderate wind all day. Winds varied in direction but maintained an easterly component all day.
Raptor Observations:
Raptor movement was slow today. We located birds east, west and over the ridge, but there was no steady flow of migrants, just a trickle through the day. We experienced about three hours with no migrants.
Non-raptor Observations:
Mountain Chickadee, squirrel (maybe red squirrel) at observation.
Predictions:
Winds are predicted to be strong tomorrow. A red flag warning has been issued for the ridge, indicating high fire danger due to winds and low relative humidity.
