With increasing winter weather, more interesting raptors have moved into the area from the North.
We saw and identified 104 Raptors which we categorized as to age, sex, morph when applicable and possible, for our report to the WRS website.
Ferruginous Hawk 16
Rough-legged Hawk 9
Prairie Falcon 2
Bald Eagle 40
Red-tailed Hawk 20
Northern Harrier 15
American Kestrel 2
These included a dark morph adult Red-tailed Hawk (likely Western subspecies calurus), as well as a dark morph adult male Rough-legged Hawk – both of which were spectacular and a moderately difficult ID as to species/age/sex.
