It has been almost a month since the Colorado Field Ornithologists' Birding Challenge, and the donations keep rolling in. As of today CFO has raised (drum roll please) $44,542 toward the $50,000 goal. This far exceeds the $35,496 that was raised in the CFO Birding Challenge last year.
If you scroll to the bottom of this email you'll see the winners in each of the categories for this year's Challenge. Congratulations to those teams, and we greatly appreciate every team that participated.
As a reminder, 85% of the funds raised will support Gunnison Basin-Sagebrush Ecosystem Alliance cheatgrass removal and sagebrush habitat restoration. In addition to Gunnison Sage-Grouse recovery, this will support habitat recovery for other sagebrush-dependent species. The remaining 15% will support other services to our members, including those focused on research and education.
I'd like to share with you a video from the Co-Founder of the Alliance, Patrick Magee, thanking all of the participants and donors, and highlighting the impact these funds will have on Gunnison Sage-grouse habitat restoration. Click here to access the video, and, when prompted, use passcode @0m3?16y to open it.
If you haven't sent in your checks for the Birding Challenge, please do so now. And if you'd like to make an additional donation, or someone you know would also like to support this effort, here is the link to donate. CFO would like to reach that $50,000 goal and make the maximum impact.
Thank you everyone for stepping up for these critical sagebrush species in our state!
