Was quite surprised to find a cattle egret on a hike against the flatirons today on the Lower Bluestem trail in south Boulder. It was hanging out with a herd of cattle at a water tank about a mile up the trail. The cows weren't sure what to make of it and didn't seem too happy about it. They kept chasing it — it would fly up briefly and land not too far away.
A quick look at EBird suggests the last November cattle egret sighting was in 2012.

Good (weird?) birding,
