Cobirders---On December 20th, we had the long overdue North Jeffco CBC. It was a huge success, not only because of our engaged leaders in the 7 zones, but because of everyone who participated. We had 42 great birders scattered from north Lakewood and Golden, to Arvada, south Broomfield, and all the areas in between. We ended up with 106 birds on count day and 108 for count week, which exceeded all expectations. I have attached the count list. Our last bird as the daylight gave up its grip was a BRANT found by Amy Cervene!!! Highlights were the Brant, Common Yellowthroat, Gray Catbird, Pacific Loon, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Williamson Sapsucker, Bonaparte's Gull, Barn Owl, all the Rosy Finches and Eastern Bluebirds. We did have Brown Thasher (count week), Sharp-shinned Hawk (Count Week), Rusty Blackbird (scouting week before),American Pipit (scouting week before) and Lesser Black-backed Gull (4 at Tucker for two weeks before freeze) that we missed the day of the count. Thanks again to all the birders that brought all the energy, laughs, and skill to the plate, and especially to Aaron Shipe for putting it all together. I can't wait for next year!!
