Hi all,
I counted birds for the Pueblo County Fall Bird Count. Pueblo Reservoir was still interesting, I counted 9 juvenile Sabine's Gulls, likely the most I've ever seen in one day. 5 off West Fishing and 4 off Sailboard launching area. Other highlights at Pueblo Reservoir, a Common Loon continues, as does two Common Terns, and 12 Forster's Terns. I was hoping to find some birds along the River, between the Pueblo Reservoir dam and the Pueblo Nature Center, though it was pretty quiet. I ended up with 73 species on the day, which is lower than usual, missed some regular birds on the River for sure.
Happy to report that the wildfire today, right near my cabin in the Wet Mountains is safe, way too close though.
