Unfortunately I was not able to get out my report in time yesterday, but fortunately bird numbers here in the Grand Valley have picked up! Yesterday (Tuesday) we banded a grand total of 30 birds, which doubled our numbers for the season from 30 to 60. There were also two birds captured that were banded in previous years. These numbers were bolstered by the addition of 16 Bushtits, which tend to come through the banding station in large flocks.

Today our numbers were lower but still higher than they have been in the past, at 10 birds.

White-crowned Sparrow 6
We are open every weekday from about 7:30 to around 11:00, but the earlier you visit, the more birds you can see! School groups also get here at about 9:30, so the best time to visit is before then. Also, this Saturday is Public Banding Day which will (weather permitting) run from 7:30 to 11:00. Hope to see you there!
