VERY slow banding at Clear Spring Ranch today. Many birds were moving S, but mostly high and above the trees. Some were still arriving at 11:15, but NOT finding the nets! It was a good day for Accipiter movement - with 3 Sharp-shinned Hawks, and 3 Cooper's Hawks seen moving S down the creek in the morning.
Best banded bird was a HY Male Golden-crowned Kinglet. These aren't rare in CO, but it was the first one I have even SEEN at CSR, let along banded.
Best rare bird according to EBird was a Green Heron, seen several times in the morning, perched on dead cottonwood branches, circling the marsh flying, and diving into the cattails (and actually moving North!).
Lastly, as I was leaving, a Townsend's Solitaire was perched and watching me walk by. I don't see these very often in this riparian area, either.
Hoping for a big arrival soon!
