Bill Maynard and John Drummond came down from El Paso County, and
helped me sort through the 5000-7000 ducks off the South Shore Marina
area of Pueblo Reservoir, Pueblo County today. We saw at least five
Surf Scoters, the one Black Scoter, and the male EURASIAN WIGEON (I
think the first one I've ever seen on Pueblo Reservoir)! Nearly all
the regular duck species were present, except for no Common Mergansers
or Common Goldeneyes, which I saw yesterday, below the dam. There
were two Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 5 Common Loons, 5 Bonaparte's
Gulls, 5 Red-breasted Mergansers as well. One other highlight today,
I saw an Eastern Bluebird in the Osprey Picnic Area, in Rock Canyon,
below the dam.
Good birding,
