[cobirds] Another day, another owl. Bird Conservancy Chico Basin Ranch Banding Report 9/26/16

Hiya!

We caught and banded our second Northern Saw-whet Owl this morning here at Chico Basin Ranch (fee area). This time it was a young male. The White-eyed Vireo that was banded over a week ago was recaptured again today and this time, it had gained significant fat/weight. In fact, it gained over half the entire weight of a kinglet (3 grams)!

There was a large flock of adult White-crowned Sparrows, both Gambel's and Mountain, flying around today and we managed to net and band several of them.

Highest numbers still went to Hermit Thrush, which are once again in abundance this season.

Remember, last day for fall banding here at Chico Basin Ranch is this Saturday, October 1st.
