[cobirds] Bonaparte's & Franklin's Gulls etc. - Douglas

On this blustery windy cold day about 3 this afternoon, Urling stopped at McClain Pit (half a mile South of Colo 86 on Castlewood Canyon Rd - Franktown) and spotted bunch of Bonaparte's Gulls - I counted a dozen.  They gracefully skimmed along the water & dipped uo and down to pick up insects. The striking white/black/gray wing pattern added to the show.
She went on to Walker Pit; she saw Canada Geese, Gadwalls, Buffleheads, & scaup (when I went over there it had 4 Canada Geese and 20 Gadwalls - period).
I stayed at McClain  7 Franklin's Gulls materialized, mostly resting on the water and showing pinkish breasts; they also got up to fly and showed their totally different wing pattern. As I called her to report this development, a flotilla of ducks that included at least 25 Buffleheads and one CinnamonTeal dropped down in front of me, but after we hung up - they had disappeared.
Lots of coming and going in this wind.
McClain also had swallows - about 4 Rough-winged. Later Urling saw about 8 Tree Swallows there.
