[cobirds] Jackson Res (Morgan) Today: Tundra Swan, Harris's Sparrow

Greetings All

This morning Cathy Sheeter and I birded Jackson St Pk, along with some stops at Andrick SWA on the way out.
The reservoir is filling up, but methinks very few fish survived the summer's drought, as the only fish-eating bird on the lake was a single Common Merg... no loons, goldeneye... not even a gull.

There was an ad and an imm TUNDRA SWAN however, several hundred GW Teal and several thousand Mallards (none to make me think Am Black Duck, sadly).

Among landbirds, there were nearly 200 juncos, including one WW Junco. There was also a HARRIS'S SPARROW among the Russian Olives and an HERMIT THRUSH (race: pacific lowlands... one alive, and actually, one freshly dead from not-obvious reasons).

At Andrick SWA, we had a Marsh Wren and a GREATER YELLOWLEGS.

----
Yesterday, I did a bit of local birding with Elena Klaver, and at Union Res we had a SNOW X LESSER CANADA GOOSE and 3 Taverner's Cackling Geese among about 1000 Cackling/Canada Geese (and one Snow and one Ross's). Also, at Crane Hollow in Boulder County, we had a HARRIS'S SPARROW.
-----
On Thursday, Cathy Sheeter and I had a BAND-TAILED PIGEON at Georgetown (possible up to 4) and a ROSS'S x SNOW GOOSE and 12 or so Taverner's Cackling Geese in with 1000-2000 Canada/Cacklers at Frederick Rec Area, Weld County. There were 6 Ross's Geese and 2 Snow Geese along n. side of CO 119 just e. of I-25 as well.

Good Birding
