[cobirds] BARN SWALLOW 75th/Boulder Creek (Boulder County)

At 4 pm today (Dec 1) a BARN SWALLOW was flying over the
Boulder Sewage treatment plant busily feeding off the
abundant insect swarms. This location is along the path
next to Boulder Creek west of N. 75th Street. The bird
was near the eastern end where the big black pipe crosses
the creek.

The bird was relatively short-tailed and quite pale
underneath. The tail was very obviously forked. This
is most likely a young bird that hatched this summer and
got left behind.

Before anyone gets too excited, I saw nothing to suggest
the "rustica" (Eurasian) subspecies. My views were good
enough to have seen any breastband and the underparts
were probably not white enough.
