Hey, all.

Sorry for the late announcement, but today's "Lafayette Birds!" outing is still on! We'll meet at 1pm at The Shack at the Greenlee Wildlife Preserve trailhead. Parking: either one of the nearby Waneka Lake lots, and walk a short distance, or; on-street near S. Fork & Salina, and walk a very short distance. Bus: RTD's 225, and hop off along Baseline Rd. at Gold Hill Dr., and walk the quite short distance therefrom.

After a short orientation at 1pm, we'll break off into small groups and bird the preserve & environs. New stuff is still arriving; an hour ago, I saw my FOY blue grosbeak, singing in the rain, for the site. The gray catbirds, black-chinned hummingbirds, cordilleran flycatchers, bushtits, and more are all in place—and will be seen this afternoon.

We usually wrap by around 3pm, although folks are free to bail earlier as desired. As always: Children, families, and curiosity-seekers welcome. The activity, sponsored by the City of Lafayette and hosted by city volunteers, is free and open to the public. No experience necessary, no RSVP necessary; just show up, and we'll go from there.

Bring binoculars and a camera if you have 'em, but no equipment is required.
Recommended: wetsuits, dry bags, and a functional outboard motor... :-)

See you this afternoon!

Again, we'll wrap up in plenty of time to get ready for tonight's Nuggets game. Speaking of which, did you know that the franchise was originally the Larks? How cool is that! Can you imagine all the graphic design fun for birders: triple-hybrid logowear, Eremophila x Sturnella x Calamospiza. Also, I wonder who remembers the team's logo from the 1980s. In case you've forgotten:
