[cobirds] Nunn CBC Results

A team of six of us completed the Nunn CBC yesterday.

First off, it was a gorgeous day out on the grasslands. Temperatures were mild for December and we had little wind, which made for good birding.
30 species included:
  • Cackling Goose (new for the count)
  • Canada Goose
  • Golden Eagle
  • Bald Eagle
  • Red-tailed Hawk
  • Rough-legged Hawk
  • Ferruginous Hawk
  • Rock Pigeon (Feral Pigeon)
  • Eurasian Collared-Dove
  • Great Horned Owl
  • Downy Woodpecker
  • Northern Flicker
  • American Kestrel
  • Merlin
  • Prairie Falcon
  • Northern Shrike
  • Blue Jay
  • Black-billed Magpie
  • Common Raven
  • Horned Lark
  • Mountain Bluebird (new for the count)
  • Townsend's Solitaire
  • American Robin (112 was a high count; Fort Collins also had an AMRO high count this year)
  • European Starling (also a high count)
  • Lapland Longspur
  • Snow Bunting (last count sighting in 1996)
  • American Tree Sparrow
  • Dark-eyed Junco (Slate-colored)
  • Song Sparrow
  • Western Meadowlark
  • House Sparrow

There are still many more counts between now and January 4th to participate in.
Happy holidays!
