We had a fairly 'regular' day of banding at Chico this morning. No first-record captures this time (or even first of season species), just a steady stream of mostly Wilson's Warblers after a slow start. About 2/3 of the Wilson's Warblers we banded today were hatch-year females. Our totals from the day were 37 newly-banded birds of 12 species:Wilson's Warbler 23Dark-eyed Junco 1 (probably an Oregon Junco-type intergradeOrange-crowned Warbler 2Warbling Vireo 1Yellow Warbler 1Lincoln's Sparrow 1Hermit Thrush 1Swainson's Thrush 1Yellow-breasted Chat 1Green-tailed Towhee 1Gray Catbird 1Brown Thrasher 3We are open 6 days a week, closed on Sundays. Tomorrow we'll be opening nets at 6:40 AM and closing at 11:40 AM, with a potentially earlier close if it's hot or breezy.
