Greetings all, while searching for an elusive Black-and-white Warbler, I
happened upon an immature Yellow-bellied Sapsucker at Grandview Cemetery in
NW Fort Collins today. I also saw an Eastern Screech Owl and Merlin but the
warbler continues to elude me.

Looking to work off those Thanksgiving calories and enjoy a less
competitive Black Friday experience? Join us Friday morning for our first
annual Fort Collins Black Friday Birding Frolic.
Let's meet at Rigden Reservoir (Arapahoe Bend Natural Area) this Friday at
8:00 a.m. We'll check out what is on the water and among the riparian
corridor. As time permits, we can explore some other local hotspots that
have been hopping with good birds these past few days. Feel free to bring
the in-laws, or perhaps you are the in-laws, in which this will be a great
escape. :)

No need to RSVP. Meet at the natural area parking lot at the corner of
Horsetooth & Strauss Cabin Rd., Fort Collins.

Jim Merritt got some nice photos of the *Cape May Warbler*, at Pueblo City
Park this afternoon, when the sun finally came out.
https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S50030264

At least 15 people were able to see the warbler today, hopefully it stays
for tomorrow's DFO Field Trip. There was no sign of the Pine Warbler that
was photographed on Thursday at Pueblo City Park, maybe it will turn up
again at some point. The juvenile Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was seen by
quite a few people today as well in Pueblo City Park. Finding warblers are
Pueblo City Park can take a lot of looking, and walking around and
listening for chip notes, high up in the pine needles. The park is big,
and birds move around, I['m sure they go into the Pueblo Zoo and to the
residential areas, nearby, where there could be suet feeders. There could
easily be more species of warblers around Pueblo City Park area, we've had
a long list over the years during November and December, so I wouldn't be
surprised if more turn up soon.

Good luck everyone coming here to look for the warblers, I'll be helping
the DFO Group tomorrow, so hopefully the birds cooperate.

Hi all,

I had this junco in my yard this evening. It looks like a Pink-sided Junco
except with a darker head, no black lores, and a more Oregon-junco like
brown on back. I kind of doubt it is a pure subspecies, I'm thinking it's
some sort of intergrade. Thoughts?

I spent all morning at Prospect Ponds NA in Fort Collins. No sign of the Rusty Blackbird, Fox Sparrow, or Harris's Sparrow seen just yesterday. As far as I know, several other birders dipped on these too. I did relocate the Winter Wren reported by Dave Leatherman and others. It was seen all too briefly hiding under stumps and tree roots along the bank of the creek just where Dave reported. This is the creek that flows south along the east side of the natural area, then turns to the east and parallels the bike path. Cross the bike path bridge, then take the social trail to the north of the bike path through the grove of mature trees. I saw it on the opposite bank from the trail.
