[cobirds] Calliope Hummingbird at our feeder

Birders

We have had a MALE Calliope Hummingbird at our feeder for 4 days now. It has been chasing away the female Broad-tailed Hummingbird that has been at our feeders all summer. The Calliope perches in our 2 cottonwood trees and dives at the Broad-tailed whenever it approaches. I am surprised it is just as aggressive as a Rufous Hummingbird. Our Rufous Hummers have moved on.

I got this cool photo of the Calliope with if's gorget flared. Plus, got a nice recording of the Calliope.

The recording is on my eBird checklist from this morning if you want to hear it.

I recorded it with my phone and no external mic. Easy to do and fun to add to a checklist. I did an article about recording bird song and then attaching it to an eBird checklist in the current DFO Lark Bunting.
