Tim & I visited the reservoir in Frederick at 11:40 am today after reading the 2/24 posting by Bill Kaempfer & were astounded by the number of white-cheeked geese. We estimated about 8000, and then another 1 or 2000 flew in. They were on the ice & also in a small area of open water. One Snow Goose was sitting on the ice when we arrived, and then 2 Ross's geese and 2 Snow Geese(white morph) flew in with the white-cheeks and stayed near each other. We were sure of the ID because we could see the grin patch on the larger Snow Geese when all 4 were in the same binocular field. Quite a spectacle.
