Another book about migration and birds is Migration Ecology of Birds by Ian Newton. Unfortunately the book is a bit thick, but very thorough on the reasons different birds migrate or partially migrate depending upon location or not migrate but then start to migrate, and lots on how they navigate during migration. Fortunately the text is well written so it's easy to comprehend. Lots of WOW and OMG, moments.
