Since I returned from a lengthy out of state trip earlier this week I have found the Eastern Phoebes nesting again in the same vulnerable spot. In fact they have just rebuilt the same nest each year for the past several years I have followed them. The female is apparently sitting on eggs at this time which is later than prior years and since I saw one of them with nesting material on 4-23 this might be a second nesting.
I saw an apparent Black Phoebe tonight near the Sell's Lake part of the Canon City Riverwalk. I had heard one calling from the across the river in that area 2 days ago. I suspect they are nesting nearby. I also saw a Black Phoebe on the north side of the Arkansas River near the pedestrian bridge. I haven't been able to check further down the Riverwalk or at Florence River Park for phoebes yet.You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
