There was a nice variety of migrants around today - not large numbers but good diversity.
-- Massey Draw in Ken Caryl Valley (no public access) had the following: Black-chinned Hummingbird (FOS), Dusky Flycatcher (FOS, early), 2 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Gray Catbird (probably the same as a few days ago), 2 Orange-crowned Warblers, Virginia's Warbler (FOS), Yellow Warbler (FOS), Green-tailed Towhee (FOS), Chipping Sparrow, Harris's Sparrow (singing), Lincoln's Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, and 7 White-crowned Sparrows.
Along Deer Creek at the Lyons Hogback there was a Nashville Warbler, another Orange-crowned Warbler, and a Lazuli Bunting. A Townsend's Solitaire there was my first down in the "lowlands" of this area in about a month.
Eastern Phoebes were making news. The male at Deer Creek at Valley Road (near the southern parking lot of South Valley Park) had attracted a mate, and both were carrying nest material under the bridge! Then I found another pair near the Buckhorn Road bridge about 0.3 miles downstream of the Valley Road pair (foraging together in the open area downstream of the bridge). As far as I know this is a new location. Then I had singles at two other new spots: Willow Creek Park near Chatfield Ave downstream of Garrison St, and Massey Draw at the Dakota Hogback close to the culvert under C470.
