Former Bay Stater from Worcester transplanted in Colorado many years ago. Last year in mid April we had one of our biggest snows of the season in So Colorado. As Joe suggested, layers are essential including a good winter coat. Don't overlook a good pair of warm boots as well. Better to have them than not. Have a great time!

HiI will be heading out with a MASS Audubon group for a week of birding, mid April. We'll begin in Denver and move onto Fort Collins, Walden, Craig, Silverthorne, Gunnison, returning to Denver. Itinerary includes viewing three leks (Greater Sage-Grouse, Sharp-tailed Grouse and Gunnison Sage-Grouse) as well as traveling through some high elevation, such as, Cameron Pass and Loveland Pass.A few years ago, I traveled out to Oklahoma same time of year, and was a bit surprised by cold weather. I understand weather can vary but I want to be prepared as possible. So looking for information on what possible weather we might encounter - temperatures, high and lows, precipitation, icy conditions - and any other helpful advice.Looking forward to visiting Colorado. First time.Thank you for your time.Mary McCormackSalisbury, MA
