Greetings,
We are tracking an Osprey from her nesting site near the Grand Lake area. We named her Shadow because her nest site was on the shore of Shadow Mountain Reservoir. We also tracked her in 2013 but the satellite tracking device fell off just before 2014 spring migration. We were happy to recapture her again in June of 2016 and see that she is doing fine and now we're tracking her south to her wintering site again.
The past few days Shadow has made it to Texas! Latest location fix at 9 am September 11th was near Austin (actually closer to Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge). This is approximately 500 miles from the last location fix we reported in Kansas. Curiously, we didn't receive all possible location fixes during her travels the last few days and there is a gap in information for September 10th and we received only one fix this day. This could be because of lack of sunlight (tracking unit is powered by tiny solar panel). However, we don't know for certain why. We hope she has safe travels across the border by next report if she goes that far!

Enjoy!
