[cobirds] Barr Banding Station Update, 9/8/15

Busiest morning at Barr so far this season - banded 76 birds.  Caught 63 of them in the 7 a.m. run, which made for a VERY busy start!  Mostly Wilson's Warblers, of course, but some other cool stuff:

Black-capped Chickadee 1
House Wren 6
Hermit Thrush 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 15
Townsend's Warbler 3
Northern Waterthrush 1
Common Yellowthroat 3
Wilson's Warbler 41
Green-tailed Towhee 3
White-crowned Sparrow (Gambel's) 1
Dark-eyed Junco (Gray-headed) 1

We are open 6 days per week, weather permitting.  Our next closed day is Mon, 9/14.  This Saturday is the Barr Lake Birding Festival, with lots of family oriented activities and bird hikes and lots of visitors to the banding station.

We are opening nets at 6:30, and will run until noon or whenever it gets too hot. School groups arrive about 9:30 a.m. most weekdays. It is wise to come early to beat the school groups and for more/better birds (See second sentence of this e-mail!)
