[cobirds] Morgan and Washington Co., Sabine's

On 10/1, Gwen Moore and I birded a bit at Jackson and Prewitt Reservoirs.

I specifically was looking for a Sabine's Gull. Usually when I specifically look for a certain bird, I don't always find it. At Prewitt reservoir[Washington Co.], I looked at many Gulls bobbing in the water , when I saw that familiar brownish gray crown, and brownish gray back on a smallish Gull. It was a juvenile Sabine's, and the bird showed it's  distinct wing pattern when it flew for a very short bit. 7, Forster's Terns flew by. Overall at Prewitt, there was not much going on bird wise. One Yellow-shafted Flicker, and a few Wilson's Warblers, and the common water birds were present.

Jackson reservoir[Morgan Co.] had a bit more action. There must have been at least 18, Yellow-rumped Warblers,6- 8, Wilson's Warblers, White-crowned Sparrows, American Goldfinch, Cedar Waxwings, and lots of American Robins and Ruby-crowned Kinglets. Most of the feeding action was in the Russian Olive trees. Many Franklin's Gulls, Ring-billed Gulls, and one Herring Gull were near or in the water. 3, Bald Eagles, 5, Red-tailed Hawk, 2, Snowy Egrets, 1, Greater Yellowlegs, 3, Lesser Yellowlegs, 5, Stilt Sandpiper, and 4, Long-billed Dowitcher were in the mudflats. We saw 1, White-throated Sparrow also.

Happy Birding !
