Today, I was looking at the White-winged Scoter at Marston[a dark silhouette] in the north section of Marston, off of Bow Mar dr. I went over to the west side of the lake and met Frank Farrell. He mentioned he had seen Swans at the lake and thought they were Tundra. There were 7 Swans total and both Frank and I were 99% sure they were Tundra from the distance we were at.
I had never seen the following behavior. The Swans were bobbing their heads up and down, continually, the whole time we watched them. They were in the middle of the lake and then were in the south part of the lake and flew once. The swans were seen around 4pm. You could see how the eye looked separate from the
bill somewhat, unlike in a Trumpeter. The bill was slightly concave. I could not see any yellow spot infront of the eye [the birds had the famous, Marston look, of being too far away].
Sure hope they will be here for the xmas count.
