[cobirds] Prewitt Reservoir (Washington) and Fort Morgan (Morgan) 12/15

Last weekend, Steven Mlodinow and I finished our day at Prewitt Reservoir, where we encountered staggering numbers of Canada and Snow Geese. Yesterday (Saturday 12/15), I picked up where we left off. A quick check of the mostly-frozen lake revealed lower numbers, but still about 12,000 Canada Geese; 3,000 Snow Geese, 1 American White Pelican, and at least 1 Ross's Goose among the crowd. Afterwards, I searched the groves north of the dam and near the outlet canal, which had lots of birds (particularly robins, juncos, starlings, and American Tree Sparrows). Highlights included:
Cedar Waxwings
Eastern Bluebird
dark-morph Rough-Legged Hawk.

My next destination was Fort Morgan's Canfield Park (exit 82 from I-76). The park had a decent variety of birds, including:
Merlin (prairie)
Northern Shrike
Wilson's Snipe (at least 2)
Marsh Wren (3)
RUSTY BLACKBIRD (flock of 12)
WINTER WREN.
