Re: [cobirds] Chico Basin Ranch Banding Station Report- Bird Conservancy of the Rockies-5/22/2025

Just a minor correction that Megan Jones Patterson posted a link to the USGS rally.
But I share both their sentiment.

Another nice day weatherwise, to be outside. Seventeen bird species were captured including a new species for the year: Ash-throated Flycatcher. Swainson's Thrushes dominated the morning which is to be expected.
Thanks to Megan Miller for posting information about the Virtual Rally today: I hope some of you were able to view it. This is a serious matter for us all to try to do something to prevent the shutdown of the Federal agencies that do research and establish regulations for Our wildlife. Please take time to get yourself educated on the subject and reach out to your Congresspeople to let them know that Wildlife is important to you and you would like them to continue funding these agencies. These agencies are valuable in ensuring future generations to enjoy and experience birds, plants, insects, etc that are important to the ecosystems we all depend on for our survival and livelihood. If wildlife and habitats are allowed to disappear then how can we humans survive? Greenhouse grown food with artificial pollination techniques? Think about it. This shutdown of the USGS and Ecological Services is serious. Make your voice heard. We have to try; otherwise we did not give it our all to help wildlife in our great Nation.
