[cobirds] Chico Basin Ranch Banding Station Report- Bird Conservancy of the Rockies-5/20/2025

The banding station was fairly quiet with birds. However, it was nice to hear a Swainson's Thrush singing before dawn- beautiful song. Most birds seemed to have moved on. There was still a Chestnut-sided Warbler and Yellow-billed Cuckoo around from yesterday. Many flycatchers were feeding around the olive grove. With our few birds captured we caught three recaptures from yesterday. A Blue Grosbeak returned from last year.

9 New Banded Birds
MacGillivray's Warbler-1
Willow Flycatcher-1
Lazuli Bunting-1
Swainson's Thrush-6

3 Recaptures-all doing well
MacGillivray's Warbler
Hermit Thrush
Northern house Wren

1 Returning bird- Banded last May

Blue Grosbeak male is at least 4 years old and still flying.

Tomorrow through Saturday the banding station will be open from Sunrise until @ 11 AM. Stop by and report your sightings.
Remember to register on the Aiken Audubon website if want to bird on the ranch. (https://www.aikenaudubon.com)

Have a good day,
