[cobirds] Cranes are spreading out

So the latest from here is that we have about 8,000 to 12,000 cranes at the Monte Vista Refuge. (There are more in other locations in the Valley as well.) Water has been flowing for some time now at the Refuge and reaching new wetlands, and the birds are taking advantage of that. So now you can see them on both sides of Hwy 15 (on east and west side turnouts), the auto tour loop, 7S road, and toward the Research Unit, west on 8S.  Each places gives different aspects and lighting conditions for photographers. In addition, plenty of Canada and Cackling Geese with one lone Ross's Goose thrown in for you to find.  So far, they are not using the 8S turnout fields very much but things change daily it seems. Enjoy the cranes...they are here today and...well you know how to finish!
