[cobirds] Observers set new record at Rawhide Power Station CBC, Larimer County

Although they were unable, for the first time in over 35 years, to fully access the power station ponds, 14 eager observers took advantage of relatively calm, warm conditions last Sunday to eclipse the old record of 79 species set only last year.  They did it in grand form amassing a total of 85 species, including one, Gray Catbird, new for the count. One count period bird brings the total to 86, more than 25 species above the longtern average.
Open conditions, light winds, and better coverage of outlying areas combined with exceptional enthusiasm of the observers all contributed to make this count an unprecedented success.
My thanks to all who participated.
