[cobirds] Adult Bald Eagle, Aspen Grove Area, Jefferson Co.

Greetings All:

Yesterday afternoon around 4:15pm, while heading east on Mineral Ave. towards Santa Fe, I observed an adult bald eagle standing on the nest platform on the east side of Cooley Lake. This platform is just west of the Carson Nature Center. Though it’s definitely early for “house-hunting”, given the proliferation of floater balds in the Denver Area, perhaps this eagle is planning ahead, so to speak. I have not previously seen a bald eagle of any age on that platform, but instead on the lake, especially when portions of it freeze in winter.

Good birding to all,
