Birds certainly showed up this morning in SE Colorado. Some birds weren't staying put very long.
-- Here is what my group saw/heard today.
Lamar Community College, Prowers County:
Northern Parula - 1 singing this in the north side
Blue Grosbeak and Warbling Vireo singing
Van's Grove, Bent Co.:
LESSER NIGHTHAWK - 1 male contunues for 4th day!
Plumbeous Vireo - 1
Several other birds of note were seen before and after I was there
Hasty Campground, Bent Co:
Ovenbird - 1
Rose-breasted Grosbeak - 1 singing
Orchard Oriole - 1 singing male
Road 40 at Kiowa Creek, Kiowa County:
Blackpoll Warbler - 1 male found by Kathy Mihm-Dunning earlier in the day
Lower Queens Reservoir, Kiowa County:
Some shorebirds, nothing noteworthy.
I heard of male Prothonotary, female Hooded, Yellow-throated, a female Blackpoll Warblers, another Northern Parula, Summer Tanager, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks in a few spots, Caspian Terns, among other birds I am sure, seen today around the area.
