Hello fellow grassland bird watching enthusiasts!
-- The Bird Conservancy of the Rockies deployed 10 geolocators on male Baird's Sparrows last May (2018) out of northern Colorado.
We also placed an orange-colored leg band on the left leg of each bird for easy re-sighting and (hopefully) re-capture.
We need to recapture those birds to retrieve the geolocation device in order to analyze the data. If you are birding in the grasslands of Colorado or Wyoming, please keep a lookout for any individuals with an orange leg band, and/or a geolocator. (See attached photo).
If you see one, please contact me at erin.youngberg@birdconservancy.org, or (970) 482-1707 ext 33 to let me know where, and I will come catch him!
Thanks!
- Erin
