This Spring we have a new banding station open to the public at Rogers Grove Park in Longmont. Today was our 2nd day of operation. Although we had to close early due to heavy mist and rain, we did have a burst of activity in the mid-morning. In total we banded 23 birds of 7 species, including a beautiful Western Palm Warbler. Here are the totals:

Orange-crowned Warbler: 6 (including 1 lutescens subsp.)
House Wren: 2
American Goldfinch: 1
'Audubon's' Yellow-rumped Warbler: 3
'Myrtle' Yellow-rumped Warbler: 4
Black-capped Chickadee: 2
Western Palm Warbler: 1
Lincoln's Sparrow: 1
American Robin: 3

The Roger's Grove Park banding station is open only on TUES and THURS during May, weather permitting. We are cancelling this Thursday (5/9) due to expected cold, rain, snow. Next week we'll be opening nets around 6:15 and back at the station by 7:00. We'll close the nets by 11:15, though often have birds to band until 11:30. We often have visiting groups at about 9:00, though all are welcome throughout the morning.

Come visit!
