Nice spring weather brought out lots of visitors but somewhat fewer birds. Lots of species, however, so folks got a good look at a variety of early spring migrants and year-round residents. The coolest bird of the morning was a tiny male Bushtit, who had been banded earlier this season, who ignored us completely and sang in my hand as he was processed. Here's the breakdown of the 24 new birds caught today:

We will be open daily, WEATHER PERMITTING, through May 31, except for May 11 and 27. We are opening nets at 6:30, and most days will have birds back at the station by 7:15. We aim to close by noon most days, earlier if it is very hot, very cold, or very windy. Registration is required for all weekend visitors; see the Denver Audubon website to sign up. Individuals may visit weekdays without registering before the school groups arrive, which is usually around 10 a.m.
