Yesterday Diane Roberts and I had a Brown Thrasher, 2 No. Mockingbirds and a (presumably) continuing Loggerhead Shrike at a a ranch yard near the south end of CR 241 in eastern Arapahoe County.. The thrasher was singing often and recorded. Is this an early migrant, about one month ahead of normal arrivals, or it is a wintering bird (if so , I missed it on two visits in Jan and Feb)? The mockingbirds were probably early arrivals.
-- Back home, the wintering Swamp Sparrow continues to visit my Ken Caryl (JeffCo) yard through this morning. Pine Siskin numbers swelled to about 230 at my feeders during this blizzard today, a very high number for me, over twice my high counts earlier this season.
