This morning (10/2), I spotted a large sparrow foraging in my yard. Seen through binoculars, themselves seeing through the kitchen window, I saw a mostly gray-faced sparrow with a black lid to that face and a yellowish spot atop it all. Though stupefied, this bird came to mind.I went outside to put down seed and look for this bird. My dog insisting on joining me, and then insisted on crashing through the brush to chase squirrels away from the feed. So there was no chance the sparrow would visit the seed with us out there. I did see it, though, in a tree at the border of my neighbor's yard and mine. It seems to be loosely associating with a Spotted Towhee. The second view, though brief, affirmed the first. The bird called a few times, too. Though I'm tone deaf and unable to describe any qualities to sounds, it seems to me to be the right call for this bird.I hope it returns to the seed, and I hope to get a photo. But I reserve the right to be wrong on all of this.- Jared Del RossoCentennial, CO
