Cold, damp weather for the first couple of hours, then some wind, finally fairly nice for the last hour or so. Lots of visitors, including Norm Lewis' group from DMNS, enjoying the birds. Was relatively slow until mid-day, when a couple of nice flocks of Yellow-rumped Warblers came through. When the groups of Wilson's, Orange-crowns and Yellows come through they tend to spread out over space and time; the Yellow-rumpeds stick together - we had 18 in 2 neighboring nets in our 10:40 run. Most of them HYs. Made for a busy mid-morning! Here's the breakdown for the day:
Hermit Thrush 3
Orange-crowned Warbler 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler 28
Unidentified Yellow-rumped Warbler 1
Wilson's Warbler 11
Spotted Towhee 1
Lincoln's Sparrow 1
White-crowned Sparrow, Gambel's 2
about 9:30.
