[cobirds] Teller Farms, Boulder County, Oct. 25

Hello, Birders.

It was a nice Sunday morning, Oct. 25, at Teller Farms, Boulder County, overcast and chilly.

Thanks to David Dowell for pointing out to me the recently returned golden-crowned sparrow; here's audio of the bird's beautiful song. Among the many white-crowned sparrows at Teller was an adult dark-lored white-crowned sparrow, likely of the nominate Eastern subspecies leucophrys. Other sparrows included two latish Lincoln sparrows and a smattering of recently returned American tree sparrows.

Also at Teller Farms this morning: 1 Virginia rail; many flyby gulls, one of which was likely a first-cycle lesser black-backed (but one is careful with gulls in flight); a female great horned owl posing like a greater prairie-chicken; and a latish orange-crowned warbler.
